Kristy Houck, CCDT

Kristy has been working professionally with dogs and their owners since 2012. She is a Certified Dog Trainer through Catch Canine Trainers Academy and is an American Kennel Club (AKC) Canine Good Citizens (CGC) evaluator. Furthermore, through the Red Cross, Kristy is certified in dog CPR and First Aid.

Through her work as the owner of Beyond Barks, a pet sitting company, Kristy saw a need within her clients for guidance with training and behavior modification. This need launched a drive within her and she enrolled with Catch Canine Academy and graduated in 2015. Subsequently, she started her dog training company, Consistent Canine. Kristy's primary focus is on training pet and service dogs for persons with physical and mental disabilities. In 2017 Kristy trained and placed her first mobility assistance and cardiac alert service dog. Since then she has trained several other service dogs for a variety of her clients’ medical needs. Additionally, she continues to be mentored by several service dog trainers for continued guidance and support.

Kristy regularly attends conferences to further her knowledge of training techniques. Kristy along with her two dogs Clutch and Asscher were members of the Pet Partners Therapy Animal Program for many years and enjoyed volunteering in a variety of settings. She has also co-directed an animal-assisted therapy program at a day program for persons with disabilities.

In her free time, Kristy loves to spend time with her family and entertain friends at her home. She has a wide variety of pets including dogs, cats, chickens, bunnies, and a parrot. Kristy is often in the kitchen cooking up a new recipe or working on a home improvement project.
